TULSA — Being stuck at home is a great time to get organized.
Erin Mursch, our Marie Kondo expert, is back today to help us organize our clothes.
I asked her specifically how she helps women reduce the size of their closets, including someone from 2 Works for You!
My co-anchor Karen has been an anchor here for 23 years, so you can imagine the size of her closet and she says it's difficult to let go of some things. So how can the women take this and find a home for everything?
"Ah, easy there, it's not just women who have a hard time letting go of things. I've worked with men who are far more sentimental than women I've worked with. You want to start before you clear out your closet think about the types of clothes you like to wear. What makes you feel good, what fits your body well," says Erin. "So I would take a moment to really picture how you like to express yourself with your fashion. Then once you've done that and have a pretty good idea of what you like, then you'll be able to face your closet. You're going to take everything out, and this sounds overwhelming, so you can break it down. She could start with just dresses. You don't have to remove everything, just the dresses. Pull everything out, lay them on your bed and just by removing them from the closet, something psychological switches. It's like you're able to see it with fresh eyes."
Erin says, "Take it one at a time, just like Marie Kondo on the show and ask yourself 'Does this fit?' Does it fit my body is one question, but does it fit my vision for my fashion style?"
Erin says just seeing if those two things are in alignment is a great way to decide if it's going to spark joy and deserves to stay in your life or maybe it's served its purpose and it's time to go.
Okay we also talked about how guys can get their garages organized and that's coming up next time we talk to Erin.
