Three months after Miss Jackson's closed its doors, property managers announced Friday the building that housed the historic store will come down.
The doors were open once again here at Miss Jackson's, but only to move out the remaining furniture before demolition begins - marking the end of a generational era.
Now in just a few months, the historic store will stand no more.
Janice Mieritz travels all the way to Tulsa to experience the shopping and the architecture of Utica Square.
"If the walls could talk, history would have so much and it's just a shame to see it go down," she said. "I don't even see an alternative. It should be there."
Inside, the walls are bare wiring pulled from the ceiling, and the last of the furniture has been moved out and donated.
"We've had a lot of reaction, a lot of emotion," said Utica Square Property Manager Jessica Barr. "This place was built in 1950, so this building has honest outlived its usefulness."
Barr says both former sites will be torn down within the next 60 days to make way for a new cornerstone for Utica Square.
"It could be anything from one big store, to two big stores, to 6 to 7 medium-sized stores, so we're just looking at all of our options," she said.
Meanwhile, out of town shoppers like Mieritz say it was sad to say goodbye to the stores and felt even worse to see the landmark go.
"Be sure to let them know what was here and what happened. It's a part of Tulsa. We'll still come back and visit and keep tabs on it and see what happens," said Mieritz.
Property managers say they're sad too, but it's out with the old and in with the new.
They say they'll stick to tradition and will try to mix local stores in with national ones in the area.
