BARTLESVILLE — An 18-year-old student from Nowata received a $1,000 tuition award in the Braum's Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway.

In a press release, senior Amelia Vaughan won the award after seeing their sign while sitting in the store's drive-thru.

"My friend is the one that told me to send in the text,” Vaughn said. “We only entered once!”

The contest was open to anyone older than 18 and lived in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma or Texas who plan to attend or are attending college - and all who had to do was text the word BRAUMS to a number.

Twenty $1,000 tuition awards and one $23,000 tuition award were given out to contest winners.

Vaughn's mom will be gifting her with the prize and she says she plans to attend Rogers State College or Missouri Southern University.
