Oklahomans claim woman schemed against hundreds

A Green Country woman is accused of being a "modern day outlaw" as a Facebook page is set up for victims of horse theft and fraud to share their concerns.

Folks from around Oklahoma say they're all being schemed by the same woman.

They say she's making shady business deals and jumping from town to town.

"Misty James is basically like your modern day outlaw," says horse trainer Brandie Inman.

Inman detailed a trail of numerous alleged crimes including horse theft, running a fake online western store, and writing hot checks.

2 Works For You did some digging and found Misty James is a fugitive from justice out of Texas.

Her most recent arrest was just yesterday in Muskogee. She was wanted on a Texas warrant, but refused extradition and bonded out.

"I don't understand I'm like how can you have this person that's basically a menace to society free," says Inman.

Inman has been sharing her testimony about James' unfair business practices on Facebook.

One post was shared nearly 2,000 times.

Hundreds responded from around the country claiming they too fell victim to James.

There's even a Facebook page called Victims of the Crying Cowboy, a website James runs.

2 Works For You reached out to James in multiple ways, even through a Facebook page she set up to defend herself against her accusers.

Reporter Cori Duke eventually reached her by phone. She declined to comment on camera except to say that all of the accusations, from all over the state - even the fraud charges in Texas - are false.

She claims she is the real victim of constant harassment.
