The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has introduced a new online system that allows Oklahomans to perform a criminal background check electronically, according to the OSBI Facebook page.

Officials say the new online system called CHIRP, Criminal History Information Request Portal, launched Monday.

The OSBI Facebook post says CHIRP is, " a quick, convenient and affordable way to protect what matters most to you!"

According to the OSBI CHIRP Portal, each search cost $15 with $1 transaction fee.

Oklahomans can search using a person's first and last name, and date of birth, officials say.
