OSBI: Number of gun applicants has grown

Posted

The number of gun applications has grown exponentially in recent months, according to OSBI.

OSBI says from the week of November 30, 2015 to January 25, 2016, applications for gun carrying licenses grew from 604 to 1,434.

While they don’t have a specific reason as to why the numbers increased, they did point to the fact that several sheriffs across the state waived the $25 fingerprinting fee for applying.

Some sheriffs even went as far as to implore citizens to apply for their personal safety.

OSBI provided a timeline of the number of applications received by week since November 30, 2015.
