LOCUST GROVE, Okla. -- The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation say a suspect in an officer-involved shooting in Locust Grove was arrested Sunday evening.
Officers arrested 24-year-old, Joseph Shelton, on a complaint of assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
OSBI says an officer tried to stop Shelton for speeding near 224 East Main Street Saturday night. A female passenger then jumped out of the vehicle and fled the scene.
OSBI says a chase began in a residential area where Shelton drove through several yards. The officer then got out of his patrol car and tried to make contact with Shelton when he drove toward the officer. According to OSBI, the officer fired several rounds at the vehicle.
The chase continued into Mayes County where several other agencies got involved. Shelton eventually stopped the vehicle about five miles north of Locust Grove, fleeing the scene on foot.
