A partnership between Oklahoma State University campuses in Stillwater and Tulsa is a big factor in the surge of COVID-19 tests being processed in the state right now.
OSU's lab is an approved coronavirus diagnostic lab analyzing test samples sent in by doctors.
Campus officials say the lab already had the FDA approved machines needed to run the tests.
"Not only did we already have the equipment on site, but the expertise to operate it and a supply chain for the materials to be able to initiate our testing process," said Dr. Kenneth sewell, vice president for research at OSU.
Once fully operational, officials say the lab could be analyzing more than 2,000 specimens a day.
