and last updated

The University of Oklahoma is canceling its programs in Italy amid the coronavirus outbreak there.

Officials say starting Thursday evening, Italy time, those study abroad programs will be closed.

They are encouraging students to return to the U.S. as soon as they can, ideally, no later than this Friday.

Students and employees can't return to campus until they go through certain steps, including a 14-day quarantine.
