TULSA - A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run in east Tulsa early Saturday morning while walking near 41st and Garnett, according to police reports.

Tulsa Police say they received a call from a female shortly before 2 a.m. Officers say the woman reported that a male friend had told her he had hit a pedestrian and left the scene of the accident.

When officers responded to the scene of the accident, they eventually found the body around 2:25 a.m. in a ditch at the 12300 block of E. 41st.

As they investigated, police found the vehicle involved in the accident at a nearby apartment complex. The owner of the vehicle, Malerva Hernandez, 56, was arrested and booked on charges of first-degree manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.

The identification of the deceased man has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
