BIXBY, Okla. — Neighbors in Bixby say pets are going missing and winding up dead on their own properties.
Matt Fogerty and his family have had Mr. Winks, the one-eyed cat for the last four years.
Fogerty said, “I came outside at 8:00 just to make sure he was OK because I saw some people playing with him in our front yard.”
But the next morning when Fogerty opened the door to let Mr. Winks in, the cat was not there.
He said, “When I went outside to see if I could see him in the front yard, I saw his little body laying out by our garage.”
The dad saw a lifeless Mr. Winks with a pellet wound through his lungs, adding, “I’d hate to speculate that somebody would maliciously and purposely go out at night looking for animals to harm. I don’t know that it’s not some younger people that are playing with a new gun and wanted to see how it would work.”
Fogerty says someone had the audacity to come onto his property and corner the cat right here by the garage and shoot him point blank.
However, this is not the first mysterious pet incident in the neighborhood. Fogerty says just four months ago, the family across the street said their cat went missing.
He said, “It seems today that you can’t always trust the people that you live around.”
Fogerty filed a police report and is now hoping to find out who is responsible for the death of their beloved family pet.
