Putting top diaper brands to the test

Are you paying too much for diapers?

TULSA — There are so many brands of diapers with a variety of price tags.

But it’s important to find the right brand for your baby’s bottom and your bottom dollar.

Dr. Cheryl Saul-Sehy says most diapers do the job but finding the one with the right size and fit is most important.

“I don’t think you have to buy the brand name, personally, I think you can try the different ones, especially if your baby doesn’t have really sensitive skin.”

Like the commercials, we decided to do a little test of our own with six different diaper brands to see which one seems more absorbent.

We experimented with The Honest Company, Huggies, Costco’s Kirkland, Aldo’s Little Journey, Luvs and Pampers.

We poured two ounces of liquid in size 5 diapers, waited 30 seconds and then patted the diaper with a paper towel to see which absorbed more.

In our test, The Honest Company absorbed the least while Huggies and Kirkland did the best.

“A lot of times, the no name brands are made by the brand names.”

According to our test, that makes sense.

Huggies is made by Kimberly-Clark. Kirkland is reportedly made by the same company.

If you go to Costco’s app, you will see there is a $10 difference between the brands.

So, it might not be a bad idea to try the more cost-effective diapers first.

The other option besides disposable diapers are cloth diapers, but you have to clean them yourself and you have to spend a little more money upfront.
