Railroad passenger service from the Tulsa metro to the Oklahoma City area may soon be a reality.
Stillwater Central Railroad will begin taking bids Friday to be the passenger rail service provider from Sapulpa to Del City.
SCR is a subsidiary of Watco Companies and is looking to revive plans for the passenger line - Eastern Flyer - which fell through in 2014. Four years ago the possibility with Iowa Pacific Railroad fell through. The line is also known as the Sooner Sub.
Interested parties in bidding, can request a non-disclosure agreement and once that is completed, can receive a bid package. An NDA can be found at lam@watcocompanies.com.
Proposals are due by July 27.

Call it the Eastern Flyer. Call it the Sooner Sub. No matter what you call it, OKC-Tulsa passenger rail is coming. There’s plenty left to do, but the company in charge has begun the process of finding an operator for passenger rail service! pic.twitter.com/qkFEx7UwdG
