Sapulpa's Christmas parade is back on after winter storm watch is canceled

The timeline of many Christmas parades in Green Country were affected by the Winter Storm Watch that was issued this week. Since the National Weather Service canceled the watch, some parades are back on.

"Anytime that there's a public safety, we don't want to put anyone at harm for a Christmas parade," explained Suzanne Shirey, the president of Sapulpa's Chamber of Commerce.

Both Sapulpa and Sand Springs had canceled their annual parades on Thursday, but Sapulpa's will remain as scheduled on Saturday, December 7 at 6 p.m.

The parade has been a tradition that has been in place for 86 years, so many residents are happy to hear the news.

"We're all excited especially being a downtown business, we get a little extra customers," said Jerica Sivadon, who works at Isabella's Collections.

The parade's theme this year is "Christmas at the Movies." More than 5,000 people are expected to come out.
