Suspect detained after 5-hour standoff

TULSA -  The Tulsa Police Department confirms that they have detained 26-year-old Marqese Payne after hours of standoff Saturday morning. 
 
The standoff broke out at the Sierra Pointe apartments near east 11th Street and south Garnett Road.
 
Police say the standoff  started around 2:30 Saturday morning when police responded to a burglary call. 
 
Police say the Payne's girlfriend called when she saw her boyfriend trying to kick in the front door of her apartment.
 
Police say he couldn't get in, so he went to the next apartment where his girlfriend's parents live, got everyone out, and locked himself inside. 
 
Police say tenants near the apartment were evacuated for their safety. Payne was confirmed to be armed. 
 
After being alone in the apartment for several hours, police say Payne set a mattress on fire.
 
Police say the he exited the apartment, leaving the weapon behind. Police were then able to arrest him. No one was injured during the five hour long standoff.
