In a unanimous decision, the Tulsa Metro Area Planning Commission approved the "River Design Overlay" (RDO) that could bring new shops and homes along the Arkansas River.
It's divided into three areas- RDO1, RDO2, and RDO3.
Each sets specific guidelines for future developments, and adds zoning regulations on top of existing ones to implement "city plans and initiatives."
The City Council will have the final vote on the overlay.
Public hearings are scheduled for next month so residents can voice their concerns. The first one is set for June 9.
