TULSA - Attorney for the Department of Human Services Emma B. Arnett was arrested and booked into Tulsa County Jail on Friday and charged with manslaughter and DUI.
The charges stem from an auto-pedestrian accident in August in which a 26-year-old man was killed in Tulsa.
According to police reports, on Aug. 27, officers were called to the scene of the accident near 51st and Delaware just past midnight. Police located the victim, Christopher Brown of Tulsa, and determined he had been struck by the suspect's car.
Brown was transported to St. Francis by EMSA, according to the report, and died there of his injuries.
Officers say they observed signs of intoxication during a field sobriety test and when the suspect would not consent to a blood test, she was taken to OSU Medical Center where blood was drawn.
Arnett was released pending the results of forensic laboratory analysis of her blood.
On Friday a warrant was issued and at around 4:20 p.m., Arnett was arrested and booked at the jail shortly thereafter. The DA's office filed charges of manslaughter in the first degree and DUI in court Friday. Her bond was set at $50,000 for the manslaughter and another $1,000 for the DUI.
