CHEROKEE COUNTY - A Tulsa man is in critical but stable condition after wrecking his Corvette south of Tahlequah Friday night, according to law enforcement in Cherokee County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that David Franklin, 57 of Tulsa, was involved in the accident that occurred just before 8 p.m. on a county road about 15 miles south of Tahlequah. The report said that Franklin was admitted to St. Francis Hospital with a head injury.

Troopers say Franklin was attempting to turn westbound on a county road in that area, departed the road and struck a tree.

The OHP reports that he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident and airbags were not deployed.
