TULSA, Okla. — First, second and third graders in the Tulsa Public Schools district are up early preparing for their return to in-person learning for the first time since March.

2 Works for you sat down with a first-grade teacher regarding parents' preparations and expectations before they drop their students off this morning.

Nicole Broccard is a first-grade teacher at Dolores Huerta Elementary.

She said she has so much in store for her students once they arrive Monday morning.

She said the district is asking teachers to prepare social distancing in the classrooms to limit students' contact. Broccard said she made individual supply bags, separate containers for supplies, individual sharpeners, and water bottle spaces to limit trips outside of the classroom.

She also said students would practice the three W's and work in pods with the same students every day to keep track of contact tracing.

"I feel like Tulsa Public Schools is seriously prepared. We were dedicated to the safety of the children and the parents, and the staff," Broccard said. "I feel like our school is determined to stay safe. If we follow the guidelines that we have set in place, we will stay safe."

Monday is the second wave of students heading back into the classroom in Tulsa Public Schools. On Nov. 9th, kindergarten and Pre-k students returned.
