Tulsa woman experiences rental assistance woes

TULSA, Okla. — One mother spent more than four months waiting for the Tulsa Housing Authority to move forward with her Section 8 voucher.

Brittany Ross got laid-off from her Macy's warehouse job at the beginning of the pandemic. Unable to pay rent, she got evicted from her apartment with nowhere to go.

After months of emailing the Tulsa Housing Authority without any response, she feels like she’s out of options.

Now, living with her sister in north Tulsa for the past four months, she’s frustrated and tired of waiting.

“I need to know if I can get a response. Not to just help me, but the other people who are going through this who are scared right now," Ross said.

2 Works for You reached out to the Tulsa Housing Authority, but haven't heard back about what’s causing the delay and how many others are in a similar situation.
