Tulsa's French Villa tenants now experiencing mold, break-ins

TULSA, Okla. — The French Villa apartment complex is no stranger to 2 Works for You.

The team first visited the complex in October, because residents had no gas service for a month.

2 Works for You went back May 7 because residents say they are now dealing with mold and break-ins with no help from property management.

Stephanie Reich’s parents have lived at French Villa for 10 years.

“If I could move my parents out, I would in a heartbeat, but they can’t afford to move. I’m sorry, mom,” Reich said.

Reich’s mother said they have dealt with bad management and calls it the worst.

“Their bathrooms are molded. Their ceilings are falling in. They had a flood in their apartment months ago," Reich said. "My dad walked over yesterday and found a homeless guy in the laundromat. They destroyed it.”

Reich said they called police four times over the weekend because of trespassers.

"It’s gotten so bad, management has given my parents the key to the laundromat,” Reich said.

Since sealing the laundry room under lock and key, the door was shattered.

Reich also said, “My mother’s oven hasn’t worked in over a year-and-a-half.”

Evelyn Estrada is the property manager of French Villa. She was not property when 2 Works for You arrived for the story, but the company which manages French Villa reached out.

Nich Moos, Orion Property Group’s director of property management, said, “We want to treat our residents with respect and have them happy. We have had some maintenance personnel issues due to people leaving, getting new jobs, also the covid-19 thing.”

Moos said they are only doing emergency maintenance because of the COVID outbreak and that a regional manager is in Tulsa addressing emergency issues this week while they interview people to fill an open maintenance position.

The Tulsa Health Department asks French Villa tenants to contact their office at 918-595-4200 to file complaints so they can investigate.
