MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Kan. -- Two men were killed Tuesday evening in Montgomery County, Kansas after their vehicle was swept off the roadway during heavy rainfall.
The crash happened on County Road 2950 south of County Road 5400. The victims were identified as Dennis Catron Sr., 72, and Dennis Catron Jr., 39, of Elk City.
Officials said between seven to 11 inches of rain fell during storms in the northern part of the county. There were reports of a possible tornado in the Elk City area.
Deputies also responded to an incident at County Road 4500 and County Road 5000 where a vehicle was found on its side in a ditch. No one was found in the vehicle and attempts to contact the owner of the vehicle were unsuccessful.
