Meanwhile, Northeastern State University, which is nearby, posted to social media telling students and faculty to stay indoors and report any suspicious activity as police activity was near campus.

Then, 20 minutes later, the university made another post giving the all-clear.

Tahlequah police confirm a suspect, Jordan Hensley, is in custody.

Officers said they initially spotted Hensley right after the shooting and attempted to make contact, but he took off running, that led to the perimeter being set up.

An officer found him 45 minutes later on the other side of town, where he then allegedly assaulted the police officer and ran again.

TPD said they found Hensley 10 minutes after that and arrested him. He is being held on complaints of first-degree murder, assault and battery with a deadly weapon, and assault and battery on an officer.

TPD identified the two victims who passed away as John and Tiffany Thompson.

Police are still unsure what caused the shooting.
