SAND SPRINGS, Okla. — Business is booming in Sand Springs.
"We’re on the verge of just busting at the seams," said Phil Nollan, chairman of the Sand Springs Economic Development Authority. "We now have a Chick-fil-A, we have a Starbucks, we’ve got it going on.”
Wednesday, Webco Industries, which specializes in tubing, announced its plans to invest more than $10 million to develop a new site.
“There’s plenty of land since we have managed to continue to grow over the first 50 years of our existence," said Dana Weber, CEO of Webco Industries. "We hope to continue to grow over the next 50 years of our existence, and this will give us the ability to do that on this campus.”
Weber said her company currently employs more than 600 people in Sand Springs. This new site will add about 30 more jobs.
“In the last 12 years alone, Webco has doubled in size with their revenue and number of employees," Nollan said. "If they do that again over the next 12 years, oh my gosh, the impact it will have for Sand Springs.”
The 48-acre site will be home to a new technology center, Webco University and corporate offices. It will take about two years to develop and build. Once it’s all done, Webco will be Sand Springs largest employer, a city that’s continuing to see growth.
“It’s really exciting because we were founded in Sand Springs," Weber said. "We’ve always been in Sand Springs, we’ve had a wonderful, long-term, 50-year partnership with Sand Springs.”
