It's been nearly a year since Green Country was hit with catastrophic flooding, which put our 70 year old levee system put to the test.

Tonight, we're learning that construction on a new levee system can begin soon as the chief's report for the levee feasibility study has been signed.

"It's a crucial milestone for the project that signals the next step to getting the much needed funds to rebuild the 70 year old levee," said Karen Keith, Tulsa County Commissioner.

Usually, it takes two to three years for the chief's reports to be complete, but Senators Jim Inhofe and James Lankford pushed for it to be finished as soon as possible.

The signed report will now be sent to Congress for authorization and funding.
