Two Stanford University students have filed a lawsuit against eight elite universities claiming they weren't given a fair opportunity to be admitted in the wake of a bribery scandal in which 50 people were arrested.
According to Bloomberg , Erica Olson and Kalea Woods say they didn't have a fair opportunity when they applied for admission when Olson applied to Yale and Woods applied to USC.
The lawsuit is seeking "damages with interest" along with "class" status and demands a jury trial.
The lawsuit was filed against Stanford, UCLA, the University of San Diego, Georgetown, the University of Texas, The Edge College & Career Network, USC, Wake Forest, The Key Foundation.
The lawsuit is also filed against Rick Singer, the cooperating witness in the government's bribery case. Singer says wealthy parents would pay him money to get their kids into elite colleges. He was one of the dozens of people arrested on Tuesday.
