ESPN is exiting the world of print.

"ESPN The Magazine" will shut down in September, and the Disney-controlled company says it is because ESPN is evolving and focusing on digital consumption. It may create and publish special editions in the future, but that is to be explored, Variety reports.

Editorial staffers will likely stay with the company, Variety says, participating in other parts of ESPN's digital media operations.
