Ah, October! The season of scares, the festival of frights, the days of dread … alright, alright, I'm done.

If you're an American Southwesterner looking for a place to get kidnapped, manhandled, possessed and terrorized this Halloween (and of course you are) here's your guide to some of the most traumatizing haunted house attractions in the SW.

1. Nevada: Freakling Bros. Horror Shows

Freakling Bros Horror Show is the only R-rated horror house in the country, and was voted the No. 1 scariest event in the Western U.S. They have three different shows that you can attempt if you're brave enough.

The Circus of Horrors, Castle Vampire, and the Gates of Hell. Just to give you an idea about how scary GoH really is, it's being called a sadistic experiment where guests experience their own violent death, and then meet Satan … so you know, maybe leave the kids at home for this one.

I give it five bloody hacked-off limbs out of five.
