PHOENIX — Phoenix police say an officer with another department was involved in a shooting outside of Hacienda Healthcare Monday morning.

Officials were called to the scene on the city's south side just before 6 a.m.

According to David Leibowitz, a spokesperson for Hacienda Healthcare, the incident occurred when the former spouse of a healthcare worker arrived at the facility with a weapon.

Police reportedly shot the armed person, who has non-life-threatening wounds, according to Leibowitz.

Video of the incident was captured on surveillance video and passed along to police for investigation.

“Our prayers go out to everyone impacted by this incident, while our gratitude goes out to everyone who works to keep Hacienda safe around the clock,” Leibowitz said in a statement.

Police say no officers were injured during the incident, but one suspect was detained.

Earlier this year, an incapacitated female patient at the facility unexpectedly gave birth to a child. It was later discovered that the patient had been raped by an employee. Last week, the facility agreed to stricter monitoring and daily patient welfare checks in order to stay open.
