Student accused of shooting faculty member, resource officer at Kansas City-area high school

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A faculty member and a school resource officer were shot Friday at Olathe East High School in Kansas, a spokesperson from the Olathe Police Department said.

They are both expected to survive.

Police said the shooter, a student at the high school, was shot by a responding officer. He is also expected to survive.

It's unclear what led to the shooting, which occurred in the "office area" of the school.

The Olathe Police Department said no other students were injured during the incident.

Special agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are at the high school assisting with the investigation.
